Presidential Primary, Peabody State Rep. Race This Tuesday

Peabody, MA - The presidential primary for Massachusetts is this Tuesday.

In addition, in the 12th Essex District in Peabody, there is a special election for state representative to fill the term of Leah Cole.

There is a three-way race between Democrat Thomas Walsh, Republican Stephanie Peach, and unenrolled candidate Christopher Gallager.

Polls will be open in Peabody from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

1. In the 12th Essex Representative District (Wards 1-4 and Ward 5, Precincts 1 & 3), Peabody is holding TWO elections on March 1st – one for the Presidential Primary and one for the Special State Election/State Representative 12th Essex Representative District final. In Ward 5, Precinct 2 and all of Ward 6 (13th Essex Representative District) will only have one election; the Presidential Primary.

2. The number of votes you are allowed to cast for each is noted on the ballot. Be sure to vote for the proper number of candidates for each position.

3. On the Presidential Primary ballot, there are 4 party ballots; Democrat, Republican, Green-Rainbow, and United Independent Party. Voters registered as a Democrat (D), Republican (R), Green-Rainbow (J), or United Independent Party (CC) must select that ballot – no choice. Voters registered as Unenrolled (U) or under a political designation has a choice of the 4 party ballots listed above.

4. In addition, for Ward Committee, you have a choice of either voting for the Group (which includes all of the names listed on the ballot under the “Group” or you may vote for individual candidates, up to a maximum number of 35 for Democrat and Republican; maximum number of 10 for Green-Rainbow and United Independent Party.

5. On the Special State election, there is just one ballot this being a final election. There are 3 candidates listed: Stephanie R. Peach, 33 Fulton Street (R) Thomas P. Walsh, 170 Lynnfield Street (D) Christopher M. Gallagher, 24 Bowditch Street (U)

6. If you wish to vote for a candidate (s) whose name (s) is not printed on the ballot, write in the candidate’s name and address in the blank write-in space provided on the ballot AND FILL IN THE OVAL.
