Public Services Director Resigns Two Months Into Job
Joseph Foti is returning to his previous job as Director of Public Works in Chelsea.

Peabody, MA -- Department of Public Services Director Joseph Foti has resigned after two months on the job for personal reasons, according to Mayor Ted Bettencourt.
Foti was hired as director on November 2, 2015 and spent two months in the position before deciding for personal reasons to return to his previous job as Director of Public Works for the City of Chelsea, according to a statement released by Bettencourt on Thursday.
“I appreciate Mr. Foti’s efforts during the past two months and certainly respect his decision to return to Chelsea,” said Bettencourt. “I wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

Foti thanked Bettencourt for the opportunity and his support during his tenure in Peabody.
“I am also grateful to the outstanding staff at DPS who made me feel welcome and part of the team from day one.”

Bettencourt said the transition to a new DPS director would be seamless and would not adversely affect operations. “We are fortunate to have a great team of very capable people in our public services department,” Bettencourt said. “I have great confidence that they will perform to their usual high level during the transition to a new director.”
