PWLL 8's Remain Undefeated in Swampscott Tournament

SWAMPSCOTT -- The Peabody West Little League 8-year-old All Star Team beat its rivals across town, Peabody Little League, 15-5, on Tuesday night to remain undefeated in the Swampscott Tournament held at Phillips Park.

Every player in the Peabody West lineup reached base at least once in the game. Ryan Skerry started on the hill and worked three innings, striking out seven (including striking out the side in his final inning). Skerry would give way to Ricky Williams in the third, who struck out the side in order. Gavin Jurczyk closed out the game on the mound in the fourth inning, striking out two batters, before the game was called for reaching the time limit. Jurczyk also had an RBI in the game.

Peabody West fell behind 1-0 after the first inning; the first would be the only inning that Peabody West didn't have a runner cross the plate. However, PWLL would score five runs in each of the next three innings.

Six PWLL players reached base in each one of their at-bats in the game. Leadoff hitter Tyler McMahon singled twice and walked twice and No. 2 hitter Anthony Ragusa worked four walks. Andrew Wenzel walked twice and singled while Williams and Skerry each had two singles and a walk and Kamron Turner walked three times. Brayden Beals and Jared Devereaux each came up with timely RBIs late in the game.

Landon Lohnes singled twice and scored twice and Patrick Woods also reached base twice and scored twice. Batters 6-11 in the PWLL order scored 13 of the team's 15 runs.

Peabody West will be back at Phillips Park on Wednesday night to face Saugus at 6:15.
