Regina Pizzeria Closes North Shore Mall Location In Peabody

North Shore pizza lovers can still grab a slice at the Liberty Tree Mall just down the road in Danvers.

PEABODY, MA -- Mall goers in Peabody will have to go somewhere other than the food court if they want a taste of the North End. Regina Pizzeria confirmed via Twitter that had closed its location in the North Shore Mall late this summer. The reason, the famed chain said, is because the mall had taken their space to create a new entrance.

Whilethe Peabody location closed in late summer, it was only recently reported on Boston Restaurant Talk. Pizza purists insists that the only authentic way to experience Regina is to travel to the North End and get a pie cooked in its original, 91-year-old brick oven. But the restaurant has expanded in recent years, favoring food court locations like the one it had in the North Shore Mall.

In 2015, Regina Pizzeria's parent company filed for bankruptcy and closed four under-performing locations, including counters at the Emerald Square Mall in North Attleborough, the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua, the Mall of New Hampshire in Manchester, and the Arsenal Project mall in Watertown.
