Rocha Burns it Up in 2-Mile, Prepped for All-State
Sophomore Catarina Rocha dusted the field at the EMass Division I Meet on Saturday while junior Sarah May also placed in the girls' 400 meter hurdles. Both Lady Tanners are headed to the All-State Meet on Saturday.
Highlights for the Lady Tanners at Saturday’s Eastern Mass. Division I Meet came in two races.
Peabody sophomore Catarina Rocha burned up the 2-mile race with a first place time of 10:55.76, surging far ahead of second-place finisher senior Julie Solimine of Haverhill, who came in at 11:09.71. Junior Sarah May then scored for the Lady Tanners in the 400 meter hurdles, squeezing into second by a nose at 1:05.98.
Rocha is now seeded first for the 2-mile, going into the All-State Meet at Bridgewater State University on June 4. Seeded just a second behind her is Longmeadow junior Camille Blackman. May is seeded 11th in the 400 meter hurdles amid a tight field of competition.

The girls’ team finished 14th in a field of 27 teams competing at Andover High School on May 28. The boys’ squad finished 20th out of 31 teams.
Junior Austin Brewster placed fifth in the 200 meter at 23.08 while senior Evan Braz ran to a 1:58.12 in the 800 meter.

The 4x800 team of Braz, juniors Nick Christensen and Nick Ingham and senior Keane Terenzoni snagged a point and eighth place in 8:13.60, while junior Zach Grube also snagged a point in the high jump, clearing 6-2 for eighth place, along with a point from senior Tyler Guinta, with an eighth place in the javelin (154-9).
The 4x800 relay team is seeded 14th going into next Saturday’s All-State Meet.

Junior Faye Haley ran to a sixth place finish of 2:24.57 in the 800 meter for the Lady Crusaders on May 27 in the Eastern Mass. Division IV Meet at North Reading High School, while the girls' 4x800 relay team finished fifth at 10:14.61 and the 4x100 team finished seventh (52.97).
