Smoke Detectors Save Family In Peabody Fire

There were no injuries reported in the overnight fire on Dana Road in Peabody.

PEABODY, MA -- Working smoke detectors saved a family of three whose house caught on fire as they slept early Friday morning, according to the Peabody Fire Prevention Bureau. Fire fighters battled single-digit temperatures in the early morning hours. The fire, which started in a wood stove, was knocked down early Friday morning but rekindle a few hours later.

The homeowners awoke around 4:41 and made it out of the house safely. While no injuries were reported, the cottage-like home was destroyed.
