Soldier From Peabody Recovering After Attack In Afghanistan
Hunter Josselyn, a 2016 graduate of Peabody Veterans Memorial High School, was shot twice during an ambush.

PEABODY, MA -- A Peabody man serving with the U.S. Army in Afghanistan is recovering from "extensive emergency surgery" after being shot twice during ambush. The injuries sustained by Hunter Josselyn are not considered life threatening, but Peabody Mayor Ted Bettencourt said in a Facebook post Wednesday that he faces "a long road to recovery."
Defense department officials would not release specific details on the incident. One solider was killed and two injured during a July 7 attack, according to a statement by the NATO Resolute Support Afghanistan. On July 12, a U.S. service member and an Afghan security force member were killed in an incident where several people were injured.
Josselyn and his wife Sara have an 11-week-old daughter, Brielle, according to Bettencourt. He is a 2016 graduate of Peabody Veterans Memorial High School. Bettencourt said the city's August 5 concert would be dedicated to Josselyn and asked Peabody residents to wear red on every Friday for the remainder of the summer as part of Remember Everyone Deployed, a national campaign to support American troops.
