Special Awards Ceremony at George Peabody House Museum Canceled Due to Weather
26th Annual George Peabody House Museum essay contest.

The winners of the Twenty-sixth Annual George Peabody House Museum Third Grade Essay Contest were recently announced by Sheila D’Ambrosio, Peabody Historical Society. The contest, which coincides with the February birthday of George Peabody, was open to third grade students who, with their teachers, visited the museum during the fall and learned about the life and legacy of Peabody’s native son.
The student’s wrote their essays in response to the following question: “What would you miss most if you went back in time to George Peabody’s childhood?”
CANCELLED: The special awards ceremony scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10 at the George Peabody House Museum was canceled due to weather. The event will be rescheduled.
This year’s winners are:
First Place: Carmela Bisesti, daughter of David and Genevieve Bisesti, and student in Ms. Kinnaly’s class at the Brown Elementary School
Second Place: Kyra Buckley, daughter of Adam and Kristen Buckley, and student in Ms. White’s class at the Center Elementary School
Third Place: Logan Lomasney, daughter of Steven and Ryan Lomasney, and student in Ms. Fucile’s class at the West Memorial Elementary School
The winners will read their essays at a special awards ceremony scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10 at the George Peabody House Museum. Mayor Bettencourt and Representatives of North Shore Bank will present the awards to the students.

The committee also selected two “Honorable Mention” essays. Honorable Mention recipients will receive a
citation award at their schools at a future date that is being planned.
The Honorable Mention award recipients are: Jessica Chau, Center Elementary School, Ms. Prentiss’ class, and Lauren Woods, Burke Elementary School, Ms. Katsoulakos’ class.

Judges for the contest were: MaryLou DaSilva and Kristen Conti of North Shore Bank; Georgia Metropolis,Vera Burke, Linda Roemer, and Sheila D’Ambrosio, Docents of the George Peabody House Museum. The essay submissions will be on display at theGeorge Peabody House Museum.
