Springtime Social to Benefit Torigian Scholarships

Peter Torigian Scholarship Committee is holding a fundraiser March 23 to support the next generation of Peabody's leaders as they head off to college.

Peter Torigian was the longest serving Mayor in Peabody’s history who proudly served the citizens of Peabody for 23 years until his retirement in 2001. His vision and skills led the city through difficult times and established Peabody as a community filled with pride and increased opportunities for all its citizens.

A scholarship has been established in memory of Mayor Torigian to help Peabody students who have shown leadership qualities and civic involvement to finance their college education.

The Peter Torigian Scholarship is available to all graduating seniors who reside in Peabody who will further their education at post secondary institutions. Students must also have participated in community service to the city of Peabody during high school and also have shown leadership qualities through their academic, athletic or social activities.

To date, over $8,000 in scholarships has been awarded to six accomplished Peabody students.

On Friday evening, March 23, 2012, from 6:30-11 p.m., the Torigian Scholarship Committee will host A Springtime Social to Support our Future Leaders through Higher Education at the , 20 Howley Street in Peabody, MA. The event is open to the public and proceeds will be used to award additional Peter Torigian Scholarships to deserving students.
