STATE CHAMPS: Peabody Babe Ruth 15s
A grand slam home run by Jack Leonard in the third inning gave Peabody a 4-1 lead en route to a 7-3 win over Plymouth and a state title.
It's been win after win after win for the Peabody Babe Ruth All-Stars right up to a state title for the 15-year-olds.
Peabody bested Plymouth, 7-3, Saturday afternoon with Jack Leonard giving the Tanner City kids an intimidating lead with a grand slam in the third inning to put Peabody up 4-1.
Peabody plowed through the state tournament at World Series Park against Saugus, Winchester, Newton and then before Saturday's final.

Peabody, as the Eastern Mass. champion, now moves on to open the New England Regional Tournament in Quincy against the Connecticut champions on Aug. 3 (10 a.m.). All games will be played at Adams Field.
