State Rep. Special Election Primary on Feb. 2.

Candidates vying to fill the term of Leah Cole.

PEABODY, MA - The special election primary for the 12th Essex District State Representative is on Tuesday, Feb. 2.

The final election is on Tuesday, March 1, the date of the Massachusetts presidential primary.

The election is still fill the seat that had been held by Leah Cole, who resigned late last year to devote more time to her nursing career.

The 12th Essex District is comprised of Wards 1-4, and Ward 5, precincts 1 and 3 only.

The Democratic candidates in the primary are James Moutsoulas, Thomas Walsh, and Craig Welton. The Republican candidates are Jaclyn Corriveau and Stephanie Peach.

There is also one unenrolled candidate, Christopher Gallagher, who will be on the March 1 ballot.

Polls will be open for the primary from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2.
