Tanners Lose Fierce Court Battle to Medford by a Point [PHOTOS]

Monday night proved to be the end of the road for the Peabody boys' basketball team this season, but the Tanners didn't go down without a fight.

Peabody and Medford battled back and forth in the final minutes of the game, trading the lead amid a flurry of timeouts and short plays, before the Tanners ultimately dropped by a mere point, 49-48.

Medford now advances in the state tournament to play Division I powerhouse Central Catholic.

, entering the tournament, while the Mustangs were 16th.

Despite being eliminated in the preliminary round, it was the first time the Peabody boys have made the postseason since 2007.
