Tanners Trounced at Home by Danvers [PHOTOS]

A stifling Danvers defense held the Tanners to just three points through the first 12 minutes of the first half, jumping out to a 31-3 lead.

It was not a pretty sight on the Tanners' home court Friday night, as the Peabody boys were outplayed in nearly every way by the visiting Falcons.

Conference opponent Danvers, which has been tearing up the court this year, suffering only one loss so far, jumped out to a 31-3 lead Friday night in Peabody with 12 minutes elapsed. It wasn't much better at the half -- 42-14.

By the final buzzer, the margin hadn't changed much with Danvers walking away with a 70-48 victory. The Falcons improved to 10-1 while the Tanners dropped to 5-5 after eaking out a win on Swampscott on Jan. 13.

Peabody's Mike Gould was the high-scorer for the game with 16, dropping in six of his points from the arc -- he also had seven rebounds. Andrew Preshong also contributed 10 points for the Tanners.

Danvers center George Merry anchored the Falcons' attack Friday and kept the Tanners away from the hoop, racking up 10 points, eight rebounds and eight blocks.

Next up for the Tanners is on Monday (7 p.m.) back at , followed by Chelsea on Wednesday (7 p.m.). The Peabody boys then head up to Gloucester for another conference match-up Friday (7 p.m.).
