Tanners Trounced by North Andover

Peabody fell into an early three-touchdown hole and couldn't climb itself out.

quarterback Jason Hiou had his best game of the season as he passed the ball for 118 yards, but the Peabody offensive line could not hold the North Andover pass rush at bay for long enough.

North Andover forced Peabody to throw the ball early and often because of three first quarter touchdowns.

“I don’t know what it is about the slow starts, but we have no excuses,” said Tanners head coach Scott Wlasuk. Peabody fell 35-10 at home last night.

The Tanners fought back with a spread offense, but North Andover’s attacking defense penetrated the Peabody offensive line throughout the night.

Star quarterback Brandon Walsh added two first quarter touchdown runs to make it 21-0. The latter of which was a 31 yard scamper. The PAT was blocked by the Tanner defensive line, but Walsh scooped up the loose ball and ran it in for a two point conversion.

It was that type of night for Peabody.

Hiou orchestrated a strong drive late in the first. With the help of Nat Gaye (12 carries, 80 yards), the Tanners marched down the field and got on the board with a three run scramble from Hiou.

In the second quarter, Sean Wlasuk hit a 30 yard field goal to put the Tanners within 11 points at 21-10.

Things looked even more promising when North Andover’s superstar quarterback Brandon Walsh went down with a leg sprain in the second quarter.

Unfortunately for the Tanners, his younger brother Casey was waiting in the wings with the keys to North Andover’s vaunted offense.

The younger Walsh led the Knights on two scoring drives in the second quarter. He ended the first with a 16-yard scamper to make it 28-10.

Just before halftime he fired a 12-yard pass to Brandon Lash that made it 35-10. The teams played for field position in the second half and no scores were made.

Peabody has now lost its last five games after winning its first three.

The Tanners will travel to Lynn Classical next week in hopes of breaking the skid. That will be their last game before traveling to Saugus on Thanksgiving morning.
