Peabody Mayor Receives Community Service Award
NSCAP honored former Peabody Mayor Michael J. Bonfanti as this year's recipient of the Senator Frederick E. Berry Community Service Award.

The community service award recognizes Senator Berry’s inspiring leadership and his dedication to improving the lives of low-income families and individuals.
In presenting the award to Mayor Bonfanti, NSCAP Executive Director Laura M. MacNeil cited his innumerable accomplishments during 30 years of service to the City of Peabody. Among many noteworthy legacies, Ms. MacNeil added: “The Mayor instituted the Social Service Summit, bringing together the many nonprofits that serve Peabody so that we could improve the way we worked together to help residents in need. I can attest that if there is a charitable event happening in Peabody, Mike Bonfanti will be there.”
The award was given in an informal ceremony at the anti-poverty agency’s Annual Meeting on Wednesday, November 12.
