This Week in Social Media
Everyone was wondering what that mysterious blast was on Thursday afternoon.

Here at Peabody Patch, social media is a big deal. It’s one of the main ways we interact with you, answer your questions and get to see what’s on your mind. Social Media Saturday is a weekly feature where we highlight your questions and thoughts you've shared on Facebook and other media throughout the past week. We’ll also point you to some new and interesting pages you may not have known about before.
Overheard
Here is a sampling of comments and happenings on our Facebook page and the social media world from the past week:
- Everyone was wondering what that mysterious blast felt around town on Thursday afternoon was. We asked our readers if they felt the rumblings. “Yes, I did...thought a big truck went over a nearby pothole but weirder,” said NormaJean Gagnon Tran. “Yes I did also, it scared the living heck out of myself and my two dogs. My whole house shook!!!!” said Gayle Cushing Dullea. “I felt it in the Emerson Park area,” added John Myers. “Definitely felt something in Centennial Park but thought it was a truck backing into the loading dock a little too hard. Now, reading this... that’s freaky!” added Kristin Cafarelli on the fact that foundations of homes shook and no one knows what it was. Michele Allen introduced another mystery into the mix, however: “Hmm didn't feel anything...but I hear smaller explosions in the dead of night...or the earlier morning on Fulton Street....anyone know what that is?”
- Patch reader Andi White Sousa had this comment to offer regarding the voluntarily watering restrictions the city is asking residents to comply with this summer. “The city should consider cracking down on businesses and apartment complexes that water daily, even when it is pouring outside and has rained for almost two-weeks!!!” Andi said.
- On Friday we alerted readers to five open houses in Peabody this weekend, and Brendan Flynn, a former resident, said he “would move back to Peabody in a minute” if he the financial means to do so.
