Victim Says January Shooting, Robbery Was Over Marijuana
According to the man who was shot in the Jan. 3 incident, he was simply trying to buy some pot when he was shot in the leg instead and robbed at his apartment.

A Peabody man who was shot in the leg and robbed at his Washington Street apartment in January told police it was all over some marijuana.
and arraigned on charges of armed robbery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm without a license and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a home.
He pleaded not guilty to all charges in Peabody District Court.

The Salem News reports that the victim -- 27-year-old John Leger -- told police he called an acquaintance in order to buy some marijuana. That man then told Leger he would send his brother over to make the transaction.
When Bernabe-Deleon arrived at the apartment above D'Orsi's Bakery, however, he pulled a gun, shot Leger and made off with $450, reports the Salem News. Authorities said he was not the brother of the other man.

Leger was taken to Mass. General Hospital and later released.
A status hearing is scheduled for April 23.
