VIDEO: Finally, It's 'Play Ball!' for Peabody Little League
Triple A Red Sox and Giants play first game of young 2011 season after opening day ceremonies Saturday were cancelled because of rain.
The Red Sox and the Giants squared off Monday evening in the first game of the 2011 season, but they weren't playing at Fenway Park or Pac Bell Stadium.
The venue was Carroll Savage Park for the Triple A Peabody Little game. As mothers and fathers watched, the nine and 10-year-old youngsters took the field played ball two days after the opening day ceremonies at James Street Field were cancelled because of rain.
The Red Sox are the defending Triple A champions after losing just one game last season, but the upstart Giants surged to an early 8-2 lead in the third inning. Much their Major League idols, the Peabody Little Leaguers were all business on what is their Field of Dreams.
