Local fans breathed a collective sigh of relief while simultaneously erupting in triumph at the Boston Bruins’ victory on Wednesday night to take home the Stanley Cup. It’s the first championship for the Bruins since 1972 and effectively elevated the Bruins to the same preeminence Boston’s other sports teams have reached in recent years.
