Weston and Sampson VP named to Coalition Board of Directors

Kent Nichols lives in Saugus and has worked for Weston and Sampson for 30 years.

Kent Nichols, Vice President of Weston & Sampson in Peabody,was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Coalition for Water Resources Stewardship. Nichols is a resident of Saugus.

Nichols has worked for Weston & Sampson for over 30 years and has more than 25 years of water, wastewater, and stormwater management and engineering experience.

As practice leader for Weston & Sampson’s NPDES-related work for wastewater treatment and stormwater discharges, he has strong experience with EPA regulatory policies, and helps clients plan to meet the changing regulatory climate for water quality projects.

His expertise includes a water resource planning focus, having completed Comprehensive Wastewater Management Plans for Concord, East Bridgewater, and North Reading, Massachusetts, and a wide range of water resource protection projects in sensitive coastal areas, including Gloucester, Newburyport, Rockport, and Westport, Massachusetts.

Nichols has also assisted several clients with planning, design, permitting, and construction phase engineering services for wastewater treatment facility improvements including project manager for the 588,000-gpd WWTF in Hopedale, Massachusetts; as owner’s project manager for the DBO upgrade of a 16-mgd WWTF for the City of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, and as project manager for the City of Newburyport 3.4-mgd WWTF improvements.

A registered professional engineer in MA, RI, and VT, Mr. Nichols holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University.

The Massachusetts Coalition for Water Resources Stewardship is a coalition of municipalities; public agencies that transport and treat drinking water, wastewater and stormwater; quasi-government agencies, and private and nonprofit organizations.

The members are committed to the principles of stewardship and sustainability in protecting the environment and public health. They promote using scientifically based, fiscally responsible approaches that realize environmental and community goals.
