Without a Doubt, Peabody is Bruins Country

Residents, shoppers, diners and merchants in Peabody are all pulling for the Bruins to knock off the Canucks in the Stanley Cup Finals.

There’s no doubt about it, folks in Peabody think it’s the Bruins’ time to win another Stanley Cup, the team’s first since 1972.

“Oh, yes, Bruins all the way,” said Sheila, who was buying lottery tickets at on Friday. “We got ‘em right where we want ‘em, Thomas is playing great and Lucic and Seguin are ready to bust out with some goals.”

School kids at , who didn’t have to wear uniforms on Friday, had on Patrice Bergeron and Zdeno Chara t-shirts as they made their way around the buildings this afternoon.

“The kids are very excited,” Kathy Trainor, the director of development at the school, said. “I remember the days of Orr and the rest of them, and this is a lot of fun with the Bruins winning again.”

The lunch crowd at was backing the Bruins all the way.

“I love ‘em, I love all of them, what a team,” Georgia Richardson said. Richardson was sitting down for lunch with her friend Pat Hines, both ladies lifetime Bruins fans.

“It’s their year and I’m pumped up for sure,” Bob Ellis said. Ellis was sporting a Milan Lucic throwback sweater and a Mohawk, as he was getting ready to have his lunch Friday afternoon.

“This has always been a hockey area, and a lot of people don’t know how great it was when the Bruins were the talk of the town,” Adam Skelton said. Skelton has been an EMT and firefighter in Peabody for the past 3-1/2 years.

“Everybody at the firehouse is excited, we were kind of worried when they lost the first two games, but they played great at home, now we just have to win one in Vancouver, because there’s no way we’re losing game six at the Garden.”

That Vancouver win, unfortunately for Bruins fans, didn’t happen Friday night, ensuring the series will go Game 7. Game 6 is at the Garden Monday at 8 p.m.
