Woman's Children File Suit Against Accused Peabody Killer

The children of Ersilia Cataldo, 50, are trying to block her accused killer from accessing bank accounts.

PEABODY, MA -- A lawsuit filed in Salem Superior Court last week seeks to block Emilio Matarazzo, 55, of accessing four bank accounts and and a brokerage account he held jointly with the woman he is accused of killing. The children of Ersilia Cataldo, 50, of Everett filed the wrongful death lawsuit against Matarazzo, who is being held without bail and due in court next month for a probable cause hearing.

Cataldo had filed for divorce in November. According to prosecutors, Matarazzo shot and killed her in the driveway of her parents Everett home, where she had been staying, as she left for work one morning last month. Matarazzo turned himself into police two hours after they received the initial shots fired call last month.
