YMCA Of Metro North Names New Director

Robert Lowell has been named the new Executive Director for the YMCA of Metro North.

PEABODY, MA - From The YMCA of Metro North: The YMCA of Metro North is pleased to welcome Robert Lowell as the Executive Director of the Torigian YMCA. Located on Lynnfield Street in Peabody, the Torigian YMCA serves over 12,000 members in programs and services focused on Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. The YMCA is a treasured community leader in Early Learning childcare After-school programs, summer camp, aquatics instruction, health and wellness, leadership development and sports. In 2017, the YMCA of Metro North provided almost $900,000 in scholarships to community members in need of a safe, engaging activities.

After receiving his undergraduate degree from U MASS, Robert Lowell embarked on a lifelong YMCA career beginning at the Greater Lynn YMCA. Mr. Lowell then spent the next 16 years with the YMCA of Greater Boston in both program and executive leadership roles. Most recently, Robert served as the Manager of Leadership Certification for the YMCA of the USA, located in Chicago, Illinois.

He is laser focused on the Y mission of serving our community and the wide range of needs”, Kathleen Walsh, Chief Operating Officer of the YMCA of Metro North stated. In addition, Lowell stated, “My roots and heart is on the North Shore. I am humbled to be given the opportunity to lead a thriving YMCA in a fabulous community."

Receiving a graduate degree in Organizational Leadership from Springfield College, Mr. Lowell has lead and mentored over 3,500 YMCA leaders in a national YMCA certification program that was implemented 5 years ago. In addition, he has provided training throughout the country in Leadership and Staff Development.

Rob joined the Torigian Y team on Monday, April 2.
