16 local volunteers to receive Presidential Service Awards in Plymouth on October 26

National award honors a lifetime of service

For dedication in helping others, 16 area volunteers will receive the 2014 President’s Volunteer Service Awards at a special ceremony in Plymouth on October 26. Mayflower RSVP will present the prestigious national honor to these Plymouth County residents who have shared at least 4,000 hours of their time and talents with the community.
The President’s Volunteer Service Award is the premier volunteer awards program in this country. It honors Americans who, by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service. Winners receive the official President’s Volunteer Service Award pin, certificate of achievement and a congratulatory letter from the president of the United States.
This year, the local nominees for the 2014 President’s Volunteer Service Awards include:
Roberta “Sylvia” Dodge of Bridgewater; Theodora “Teddi” Bourassa, Sandra Bowers, and Eleanor Claff of Brockton; Maureen Connolly, Joanne McNally, Kevin McNally and David Robinson of Duxbury; Ann Fiore and Rochelle “Rockie” Smith of Kingston; Iris Capobianco, Loretta Cook, and Doris Cronin of Pembroke; David Hosford and Robert Woodward of Plymouth; and Katharine Hurd of Sagamore Beach.
Mayflower RSVP, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program for Plymouth County, is a designated national Certifying Organization for the President’s Volunteer Service Award Program. Once their volunteer service has been vetted, nominees are invited to an Awards Dinner and Auction in October to receive a pin and letter of thanks from the President of the United States.
The President’s Volunteer Service Award Dinner and Auction, sponsored by Old Colony Elder Services and Waverly Oaks Golf Club, will be held on Sunday, October 26, at Waverly Oaks Golf Club in Plymouth.
