All Clear at Plymouth Beaches, Pond After Shark Sighting, Bacteria Alert

Plymouth beaches and Fresh Pond have the all clear following a shark sighting near the beaches and high bacteria levels at the pond.

PLYMOUTH, MA — Plymouth's Fresh Pond and its two beaches were granted the all-clear after elevated bacteria levels were found in the pond and a shark sighting near the beaches last week.

The pond was closed Thursday after water tests revealed dangerous bacteria levels. Subsequent testing showed safe levels and the pond was reopened, according to town officials.

Also on Thursday, there was a possible shark sighting off the Plymouth coast, forcing officials to issue swimmer alerts at Plymouth Beach and White Horse Beach. Those alerts have since been lifted.
