The Spire Center for the Performing Arts is set to host a true modern master of the guitar this summer. Internationally acclaimed guitarist, composer, and arranger Alexandr Misko will take the stage on Thursday, August 20, bringing his unique brand of fingerstyle music to the heart of Plymouth.

Misko, a German-based maestro who has mesmerized audiences from the intimacy of online videos to the grand stage of Carnegie Hall, represents the vanguard of a new generation of musicians. His resume is as diverse as his technique; he has collaborated with Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer and boasts a catalog of seven albums that bridge the gap between traditional composition and modern innovation.

The journey to the Spire stage has been a meteoric one for the young performer. After beginning his formal classical training at age 12, Misko pivoted to modern fingerstyle guitar—a style he mastered largely on his own. His breakthrough came in 2015 while he was still in high school, when his original piece, "Guitar + Pen Tapping Song," went viral.

He didn't stop there. In 2016, his cover of Michael Jackson’s "Billie Jean" exploded on social media, garnering over 30 million views. He followed that feat just a year later with a rendition of George Michael's "Careless Whisper" that racked up more than 80 million views in a single month. Today, the MusicRadar (UK) "Acoustic Guitarist of the Year" holds a YouTube channel with over 1,000,000 subscribers, all drawn to his ability to transform the guitar into an entire orchestra.
