Americana Theatre Brings 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow' To Carver's Historic Union Church

Americana Theatre Company, Plymouth's professional theatre company, ushers in the spooky season with a one-actor adaptation of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," running October 22 through 26 at 7 p.m. at Historic Union Church, 29 South Main Street in Carver.

Created by Artistic Directors Derek Martin and Jesse Sullivan, the original production brings Washington Irving's haunting 1820 tale to life just in time for the Halloween season — Ichabod Crane's eerie encounter with the Headless Horseman in what the company calls a bold, imaginative staging that has been performed nationally.

The setting does half the haunting: Carver's historic Union Church, surrounded by old burial grounds. "It's the perfect place for a ghostly visit — you might even catch a glimpse of the Horseman himself!" the company says.

The production features audience favorite Nick Hancock, most recently seen as Uncle Fester in Americana's "The Addams Family." Hancock is a Sacramento-based performer, choreographer, writer, director and teaching artist with a bachelor's degree in musical theatre from Jessup University. His performance credits include Long John Silver in "Treasure Island," Lee in "True West," Edward in "Big Fish" and Bob Cratchit in "A Christmas Carol."

Tickets are $25 general admission, subject to capacity, available at the door or at americanatheatre.org/tickets. Free parking is available streetside.
