Today's riddle: What is clean when it is black and dirty when it is white? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Plymouth's Seafood Festival Returns For Another Year (patch.com) — Seafood fans in Plymouth can look forward to the town's upcoming seafood festival on Oct. 10, featuring lobster rolls, fresh clams, chowder, and local beer and wine across several downtown locations. Families will also find live music, marine life exhibits, crafts, games, fishing boats, and a clam chowder competition, with tickets available online.
2. Appeals court tosses police shooting lawsuit (plymouthindependent.org) — A state Appeals Court has dismissed a civil lawsuit against Plymouth police officers brought by resident Michael Walsh over a 2018 shooting outside his Federal Furnace Road home, reversing a Plymouth Superior Court ruling. The decision ends his bid for damages against the town's officers, whom judges found acted within their law-enforcement discretion during an armed confrontation. Walsh's attorney is considering an appeal to the Supreme Judicial Court.
3. Plymouth Antiquarian Society Poe event details (enterprisenews.com) — Plymouth residents can spend Oct. 9–11 exploring Edgar Allan Poe's tales inside the historic Hedge House Museum on Water Street, with timed candlelit tours hosted by the Plymouth Antiquarian Society. The immersive experience includes live performances, a look at Plymouth native Lizzie Doten's spiritualist connection to Poe, Victorian Gothic artifacts, and optional paid tarot or mediumship readings, with advance registration required.
4. 'I don't trust them': Parent claims she's waited months for psychological testing results (boston25news.com) — A South Shore mother says she's waited months for her daughter's psychological testing report from Mindful Paths' Plymouth office, raising concerns about delays that affect school accommodations. After filing complaints with state agencies, she still has no clear timeline, while the practice cites privacy rules and says it works to complete evaluations appropriately. Officials urge families to research providers' histories beyond online reviews.
5. Sandwich man sentenced for stealing food, supplies from Plymouth schools for his 'Snack Shack' (boston.com) — Plymouth residents are learning that a former director of food services for Plymouth Public Schools has been sentenced to six months in prison for stealing food and equipment, some bought with federal funds, to stock his Cape Cod snack stand. Federal prosecutors say the thefts, which included kitchen gear and large quantities of food, stretched from 2014 to 2025 before an anonymous tip spurred investigation.
