1. New sinkhole emerges on Water Street (plymouthindependent.org) — A new sinkhole has opened behind the Plymouth Waterfront Visitor Center on Water Street, where part of the building has also dropped nearly two inches amid ongoing sewer line work. Town engineers and the DPW are using ground-penetrating radar and adjusting dewatering wells to understand the cause while trying to keep the long-troubled project moving. Officials say the area appears stable for now, but more analysis is coming.

The plan includes significant funding for fire staffing, recreation, sewer, and water upgrades in West Plymouth, while traffic, schools, and long‑term housing needs remain central to the ongoing review.
3. Former Director of Food Services for Plymouth Public Schools sentenced for stealing food and equipment for side business (capecod.com) — Plymouth residents are learning that the former director of Plymouth Public Schools' food services has been sentenced in federal court for stealing school-funded food and kitchen equipment to supply his private Snack Shack business. Prosecutors say the scheme ran from 2014 to 2025 and involved USDA-supported items meant for students. He received six months in prison, supervised release, a fine, and must pay restitution later.
4. Plymouth, MA Planning Board — October 14, 2026 (meetingwatch.org) — A recent Plymouth Planning Board meeting resulted in conditional site plan approval, including a requirement for a revised landscaping plan. Residents can use MeetingWatch tools to dig into what the board decided, with links to minutes, reports, and specific timestamps in the meeting video for more detailed, plain‑English explanations.
5. Two-alarm fire heavily damages Plymouth home, officials say (middletownpress.com) — A two-alarm fire heavily damaged a home on Orchard Street in Plymouth Wednesday morning, leaving the third floor and attic with extensive fire and smoke damage and lower floors affected by smoke and water. Terryville Volunteer Fire Department crews briefly pulled back over roof safety concerns before using a tower truck to knock down the flames. No injuries were reported, but officials have not said how many residents were displaced.
