Apple Pie-Making Marathon to Feed Families in Plymouth

Members of the community are putting their baking hats on to participate in an apple-pie-making marathon this week.

All apple pies made will be donated and served to the hungry by the Greater Plymouth Food Warehouse.

Sharing the Harvest— Pies for Pantry will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Beal House, 222 Main St. in Kingston.

All ingredients will be provided for the apple-pie-making marathon and ingredient donations are also welcome.

Attendees can bring knives, corers, peelers, rolling pins and cookie cutters with fall shapes.

The Greater Plymouth Food Warehouse delivers food to South Shore emergency food assistance programs to deliver nutritious foods to hungry people in the community, according to the South Shore Community Action Council, Inc. website.

Each event offers prizes by local vendors. Door prizes on Thursday include a $50 gift card to Bondo’s in Marshfield and a $50 gift card to Port Bistro in Kingston, according to the Edible South Shore website.

There will be a collection box for non-perishable foods at each gathering for donation to the Greater Plymouth Food Warehouse to help fight hunger on the South Shore.

Donations up to $10 are welcome.

The pie-making event is hosted by the Kingston Public Library through the South Shore Locavores Series.

The series holds a food-related program every third Thursday of the month from September until May. Check out the list of Locavores programs this season on the edible South Shore and South Coast website.
