Bites Nearby: Foppiano's

Foppiano's in Manomet is this week's pick for Bites Nearby.

Foppiano’s is a family restaurant with emphasis on the cuisine of Northern Italy. The chef offers a variety of appetizers including the aptly named Mussels Foppiano, which consists of mussels sautéed in garlic saffron wine sauce with lemon wheels, diced tomatoes and scallions. And a traditional anitipasto with roma tomoatoes, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, Genoa salami, roasted red peppers, Bermuda onions and cherry peppers finished with aged balsamic vinegar, olive oil and grated reggiano cheese on a bed of mesclun greens.

Entrees include Foppiano’s Bestecca, a 12-ounce sirloin steak with onions, peppers, mushrooms, demi-glace, asparagus and roasted red bliss potatoes. Pasta is always an option and Foppiano’s offers customers the chance to “Be the Chef” by picking a pasta, a choice of shrimp, scallops, veal or chicken and more than a dozen sauces such as puttanesca (a blend of white wine, onions, anchovies, kalamata olives, capers and plum tomatoes with marinara), alfredo, marsala, parmigiana, piccata, Florentine and many more.

Foppiano’s is located at 690 State Road in Manomet. It’s open 4 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday.
