Bites Nearby: Honey Dew Donuts
After a long absence, Honey Dew returns to Plymouth, bringing with it cinnamon sticks and pistachio nut muffins.
Drivers and passersby on Main Street Extension downtown this week saw an odd sight: a life-sized coffee cup, with hands and legs, waving to all. To fans of Honey Dew Donuts, though, it was a sign that the local coffee and bakery chain is now closer to home.
Honey Dew takes over the space formerly occupied by Dunkin' Donuts at 15 Main St. Extension after years away from town. Locals will remember that the company once operated in North Plymouth and at the Hess gas station. The closest locations have been in Carver and Buzzards Bay.
That is exactly why Honey Dew decided to return, Carlos Mota, the owner of the Plymouth location, tells. He believes Plymouth is an "untapped area" ripe for expansion. With the Wednesday opening of his shop, he plans to give locals another option in their coffee and baked good needs. It is a place to "enjoy the local flavor," as the slogan goes.

Mota also partly owns another Honey Dew on Route 44 in Raynham, he noted.
Asked about some of Honey Dew's specialties, the owner pointed to the gourmet coffee, in flavors like blueberry cinnamon, chocolate raspberry and mocha madness, and the cinnamon sticks, which are "one of the best sellers." He also recommends the international breakfast sandwiches, which come in three varieties, All American, with steak, egg and cheddar on ciabatta, French, with ham, egg and a garlic herb spread on a croissant, and Portuguese, with linguica, egg and cheddar on ciabatta.

As a welcome gift, this Honey Dew will be offering a number of items for 99 cents through February, according to Mota, including muffins, cinnamon sticks, bagels and cream cheese and hot or iced medium coffees. It also honors competitors' coupons and free Wi-Fi is available.
What separates his shop from others is an emphasis on customer satisfaction, the owner stressed.
"I hope they get satisfaction and leave with a smile," he says.
Honey Dew Donuts is located at 15 Main St. Extension and is open from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. for the winter.
