Brawl At Bridgewater Gas Station Has Police Charging Halifax Man

A 30-year-old man from Halifax accused of stabbing and trying to strangle a man over social media posts has been charged, police say.

BRIDGEWATER, MA — A man from Halifax has been arrested and charged after police say he started a fight outside a Bridgewater gas station.

Allen Ellis, 30, of Halifax, was in Brockton District Court Wednesday on charges of assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and strangulation, Bridgewater police said.

Bridgewater police responded to the Circle K gas station on Pleasant Street after receiving reports of a fight between two men in the parking lot Tuesday night.

Once officers were able to separate the men, the two were checked over by paramedics and taken to nearby hospitals.

Investigating officers discovered the fight had begun over social media posts, and later through surveillance footage, they found Ellis brandishing a knife before stabbing the other man before trying to strangle him.
