American Music in Concert At Pilgrim Hall Museum

South Shore Conservatory (SSC) in collaboration with Pilgrim Hall Museum will present Made in America: American Music in Concert, featuring the SSC’s faculty members, Friday, May 13, 7 p.m. in the main floor gallery at Pilgrim Hall Museum, 75 Court Street, Plymouth.  Tickets are $25.

Delight in an evening featuring vocal and instrumental American-made music, from composers Samuel Barber, Aaron Copland, Lee Hoiby, Gene Scheer, Stephen Sondheim and Rick Sowash.  An eclectic repertoire will deliver performances spanning American art song classics to the most sophisticated metropolitan music, all composed in the heartland.  Instrumental repertoire showcases two of the most important musical figures in 20th Century American music, composers George Gershwin and Leonard Bernstein.

Performing in the concert are Baritone Andrew Garland, Violinist MaeLynn Arnold, Clarinetist Gita Brown, Pianist Regina Yung, Cellist Patrick Owen, and Pianist Stephen Deitz.

Made in America also serves as a sneak preview of South Shore Conservatory’s Duxbury Music Festival (DMF), an intensive program for solo and chamber instrumental performance held from July 17 through August 5, 2011.  Many of the performances are open to the public, some are free of charge!  For more information or to order tickets, please visit www.duxburymusicfestival.org.
