Figures of Speech Theatre brings their unique and critically acclaimed brand of Puppetry to Β the Plymouth Center for the Arts in Cupid and PsycheΒ
Plymouth Guild is proud to present βCupid & Psycheβ βΒ a modern adaptation of a 2000 year old myth told with actors, puppets, dance and good humor performed by Figures of Speech Theatre.Β Since it won the coveted UNIMA Citation of Excellence, the highest award in American puppet theater, βCupid and Psycheβ has appeared in theaters, festivals and schools from Maine to California, including two extended runs at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC.
Figures of Speech Theatre is a world-class performing group based in Freeport, Maine and has toured from Tokyo to Europe to Broadway with performances featuring actors and puppets. They approach βCupid and Psycheβ with both respect and playful irreverence. The result is an entertaining collage of romance, drama, and outrageous humor. Intricately carved three-foot tall puppets portray Psyche and Cupid, while the dynamic roles of Venus and Zeus are played by actors Carol and John Farrell.
