On May 30, the Independence Mall in Kingston willofficially become 100% tobacco-free for all employees and mall patrons. To help the Independence Mall kick-the-habit, four former smokers and current business executives will be inducted into the Ex-Smoker’s Hall of Fame at the Independence Mall where they will share their going tobacco-free success stories.

WHO: Join the Independence Mall, Jordan Health Systems, Seven Hills Tobacco –Free Community Partnership, and the Massachusetts Tobacco Cessation and Prevention Program to honor four local ex-smokers at the Independence Mall Ex-Smokers’ Hall of Fame.
WHAT: The Ex-Smokers Hall of Fame was created by the Massachusetts Tobacco Cessation andPrevention Program to encourage ex-smokers to tell their personal stories of why they quit, how they quit, and how quitting has changed their lives. The ex-smokers featured at
the Independence Mall’s Hall of Fame display all work within the Independence Mall and join hundreds of smokers across the state who have already shared their stories.
These ex-smokers have stepped forward to encourage other employees within the Mall as well as local residents who are still trying to quit smoking. The ex-smokers’ message is to be aware of the many resources that are available to assist them in their quit attempts.
77% of adult smokers in Massachusetts want to quit, and 60% have tried to quit in the past year. The Ex-Smokers Hall of Fame calls on smokers to keep trying and encourages them not to give up. The ex-smokers tell compelling stories of how quitting has changed their lives to inspire others to do the same.
