The Boston Classical Guitar Society welcomes guitar virtuosos the Katona Twins for its first concert of the 2011-12 Artist Series.Β One of the most famous and sought-after guitar duos in the world, Zoltan and Peter Katona seamlessly fuse classical, flamenco, and popular music genres in concerts attended by thousands.Β Highlights of their current program include Boccherini's Introduction and Fandango, Falla's El Amor Brujo, and the Katonas' arrangement of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody.
TheΒ concert takes place at the First Church of Christ, 136 Main Street, Sandwich, MA on October 9 at 3 p.m.Β Β Tickets are $25 general admission and $20 for students/seniors, available at http://www.itsmyseat.com/bcgs.html or at the door. They have given recitals in the major concert venues throughout the world including performances at the Carnegie Hall, the Wigmore Hall, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Suntory Hall in Tokyo, and the Philharmonie in Cologne.Β In 2009, as the soloists of the "Night of the Proms" they performed live to half a million people in arenas across Europe.Β The twins have won over ten international prizes at major competitions in New York, London, Germany, France and Hungary and they are currently artists in residence in San Francisco.
