The Plymouth Public Library’s Outreach/Senior Services Department will host its 14th annual seniors’ travel program in the Otto Fehlow Room, 132 South St., Plymouth. This year’s program, entitled NOVEL DESTINATIONS: Touring England’s Literary Landscape, brings two great summer pastimes – travel and reading – together.
The tour guide for the afternoon’s armchair travel excursion is Liz Scanlon, New England District Manager for Trafalgar Tours. Ms. Scanlon will take us to several popular literary destinations, including Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare; the nearby village of Shottery, where the Cottage of Anne Hathaway, Shakespeare’s wife, is located; the Lake District in northwest England – an area that inspired many 19th century poets, including William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge; Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire, made famous by the legend of Robin Hood, and many other popular historical locations.
NOVEL DESTINATIONS: Touring England’s Literary Landscape is sponsored by the Plymouth Public Library Corporation and is free with no registration required. The library is fully accessible; please let us know if you need special accommodations to attend.
