Bring the whole family for a delicious Plymouth tradition, now celebrating its 78th year. Enjoy a taste of old New England at the Plymouth Antiquarian Society's Annual Pilgrim Breakfast served on the grounds of the historic Harlow House at 119 Sandwich Street from 8:30 to 11:30 am on Sunday July 10th. Young volunteers in Pilgrim costume serve homemade codfish cakes, baked beans, scrambled eggs, muffins, coffee, tea and juice. Visitors and residents sit down together at long common tables to share hearty food and pleasant company. The youngest Pilgrim helpers sell "tussy-mussies" -- tiny herb-and-blossom corsages that in the colonial period were said to gladden the heart. A costumed musical group will perform songs of the Pilgrims, and the Harlow Old Fort House will be open for tours. Crafts demonstrations and colonial activities for children will also be offered during the event.
The cost of this traditional New England Breakfast is $10 per person, $9 for members of the Plymouth Antiquarian Society. Special discounted family admission at $35 for a family of four (two adults and two children) is available. All proceeds benefit the preservation of the 1677 Harlow House -- one of the oldest surviving colonial homesteads in Plymouth. Reservations recommended, call 508-746-0012 or email pasm@verizon.net.
