Rising Stars Showcase

Steven Karidoyanes conducts the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra in the 5th annual “Rising Stars Showcase,” a family concert bursting with youthful talent and energy.  Joining the orchestra is the 120-voice Plymouth Children’s Chorus, Kathy McMinn director, singing music from Aaron Copland’s collection of Old American Songs, the rousing spiritual, This Little Light of Mine, and a lush arrangement for chorus and orchestra of What a Wonderful World. Fourteen-year-old South Shore Conservatory concerto competition winner Ilve Bayturk performs music from Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 12 in A Major.  The home of the Boston Red Sox, Fenway Park, and the national game of baseball are also celebrated at this concert.  The orchestra performs John Philip Sousa’s whimsical march, The National Game, to herald the centennial anniversary of Fenway Park’s ground-breaking in 1911.  The very popular hands-on instrument demonstrations precede the concert.  Fun for the whole family! This concert is part of the national food drive, Orchestras Feeding America. Audience members are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to benefit the Food Warehouse of Greater Plymouth.
