Article 18 once again askes Town Meeting to change the Mixed Commerce zoning, to allow for new car dealerships. Article 29 is a petition article that would create a meals exise tax of 0.75 percent on the sale of restaurant meals. The article would also request the state Legislature to establish a "Plymouth 400th Anniversay Celebration Fund," which would be dedicated to expenses related to the town's 400th anniverary celebration in 2020, as well as the restoration, renovation, operation and maintence of the 1820 Courthouse as a tourist attraction or other public use. It would also pay for infrastructure improvements to Town Square, Burial Hill and Court Square. The Celebration Fund would be funded by the revenues from the meals tax. The excise tax would terminate June 30, 2021 unless it is extended by a vote of Town Meeting.
