FALMOUTH — The Falmouth Board of Selectmen has scheduled two meetings this week to discuss ongoing litigation surrounding the town’s wind turbines.

The board will meet at 7 p.m. tonight at town hall, 59 Town Hall Square, and at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Hermann Meeting Room at the Falmouth Public Library, 300 Main St. Both meetings include executive sessions to discuss a possible judicial appeal of a recent Zoning Board of Appeals decision to shut down Wind 1, one of the twin turbines located at the wastewater treatment plant.

The only business items on the public portion of the agendas are the opening and closing of the warrant for a possible special town meeting Nov. 10, at which changes to the wind turbine bylaws may be discussed.
The town has until Oct. 13 to file an appeal of the cease-and-desist order, and officials said the turbines will continue to spin until the appeal period is up. Neighbors of the turbines have filed a request for an emergency cease-and-desist order from Barnstable Superior Court Judge Robert Rufo to shut down the turbines immediately; a hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday.
