Family Fun Friday & Distractology 101

Sponsored by the Arbella Insurance Foundation; at Heritage Museums & Gardens on Friday, August 14, 10am-5pm

Fun and safety intersect during a special Family Fun Friday sponsored by the Arbella Insurance Foundation. This event encourages visitors of all ages to put away their phones and focus on some outdoor fun. Activities include face painting, arts & crafts, old fashioned lawn games, giveaways, and an 11AM performance by The Airborne Comedians, a dynamic juggling show with Dan Foley and Joel Harris, who juggle unusual items and ride unicycles.

To reinforce the notion of being present and aware, families can also take a safe-driving pledge and teenagers and licensed drivers can learn about distracted driving at the Arbella Insurance Foundation’s Distractology 101 driving simulator. This interactive program aims to teach new drivers the dangers of distracted driving, including texting while driving. A 36-foot-long, neon yellow mobile classroom outfitted with high-tech driving simulators allows teens and other new drivers to face a number of scenarios based on real-world examples. Participants learn how to anticipate hidden hazards, react to the road, and avoid accidents. To date, nearly 10,000 new drivers have completed the Distractology 101 training.
Family Fun Friday music and activities are FREE with museum admission.

More About The Airborne Comedians
Dan Foley and Joel Harris are The Airborne Comedians. An act that began 20 years ago as a snowball juggling contest in a laundry-mat, now has escalated to riding six and seven foot high unicycles and lawn chair juggling.
