Legislature's $32.5 Billion Budget Includes Appropriations for Plymouth
The Massachusetts Legislature has sent a $32.5 Billion Budget to Governor Deval Patrick for his signature. Included in the budget are several appropriations for Plymouth and Plymouth County.

- $250,000 for the Plymouth 400th Committee, with the requirement of an equal match in private funding, to support the commemoration of the town of Plymouthβs 400th anniversary in 2020.
- $1.7 million to the Dept of Public Health to conduct regular air and water testing to ensure the health and safety of local residents.
- The Nathan Hale Foundation in Plymouth is spared any cuts in the budget in an effort to protect veteran services.
- $6 million in funding for regional tourism councils. The fiscal year 2012 budget also included $6 million in funding for local tourism councils, which was a 100 percent increase from the 2011 fiscal year budget.
- Included in the budget is $200,000 for the Plymouth County Fire Chiefs, providing a 20 percent match to the $1 million Assistance to Firefighters federal grant that was awarded to the Plymouth County Fire Chiefs. This match is required to release the grant funds.
