Local Impact Expressions, Inc., Is Named North American Distributor for Works by Italian Artist Diego Scaglia Rat

Laser-Etched Posters Combine Traditional Woodcraft and Advanced Technology

It wasn’t long after Diego Scaglia Rat started working as a CAD drafting engineer for a large engineering firm in his native Italy that he decided to follow his real passion.

He wanted to combine his artistic abilities with his love of history, science fiction, science, movies, the macabre, and music -- and that’s when artist Diego and wife Camelia (she runs the business side) in 2014 launched Engravers Dungeon (www.EngraversDungeon.com ) , a studio specializing in highly-detailed digital laser-etched wood posters, combining a unique medium, technique and style that sets his art apart. The studio is in Valencia, Spain.

This month, Diego signed an exclusive North American (U.S. & Canada) agreement with Charlie Wade, owner of Impact Expressions, based in Rochester, Mass., not far from historic Cape Cod. Art pieces are available at the Etsy store: http://EngraversDungeonUS.etsy.com .

Wade says, “As soon as I saw Diego’s work – extraordinarily unique art that combine traditional woodcraft and advanced technology, I saw the potential. I knew they would appeal to sci-fi/horror movie buffs, nautical/history aficionados, art/alt art collectors, people with home bars or ‘man caves,’ and many others. These pieces make great gifts or will beautifully decorate your home or office. Every piece can be customized with a laser inscription on the back. As Diego gains a following, the pieces will increase in value. And this product line fits nicely into our signage, lettering and graphics business.”

Following a lengthy trial-and-error period experimenting with various woods and techniques, Diego settled on a multi-step process: He sands the wood, then paints areas he wants to enrich, some before the engraving, others after. He ‘burns’ the design into the wood using special equipment resulting in excellent quality and a high level of detail. He then applies a mix of wax and oils to protect the wood and artwork, and seals everything with a coat of varnish. Diego hand selects each piece of wood for the project. Each piece is unique due to the wood’s shades and grain patterns. Like snowflakes, no two are the same.
