Masked Home Intruder Stabs Man Multiple Times: Middleborough PD

Police said an intruder tried gaining access to a couple's safe when a man attempted to stop him. The victim suffered serious injuries.

MIDDLEBOROUGH, MA β€” A man was stabbed multiple times by a masked man who entered his home early Saturday morning, Middleborough Police Chief Joseph Perkins said. The victim suffered serious injuries and was flown to Rhode Island Hospital. The man's wife, who was also home during the armed home invasion, was not injured.

Police said they received a 911 call around 2:30 a.m. from a woman on Old Center Street who reported her husband had been stabbed by a man who broke into their home. The suspect, a white man wearing a mask, demanded access to the couple's safe, police said.

The male victim was stabbed when he tried to stop the intruder.

Following the altercation, the suspect left in a vehicle that was waiting outside.

Police believe the suspect is known to the couple and are following up several leads.

"There is no danger to the community," Perkins said.
