Mass Clean Energy Center One Billion Dollars Plus Wasted In Taxpayer Money On The Wind Turbine Bungle
The bottom line here : Prove they didn’t . The news media won’t report it ! Neither will the politicians !
The Mass Clean Energy Center aka Mass Technology Collaborative in the last fifteen years wasted more than one billion of taxpayer funds on commercial wind.
The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center at one time had a goal of 2000 megawatts of commercial wind power by the year 2020.
The MassCEC, local and state politicians as well as the news media are aware only 100 megawatts of commercial wind has been installed in Massachusetts. The turbines installed average around 1.5 megawatts per commercial wind turbine. An enormous financial fiasco and embarrassment to career politicians.
Your local news media journalist and editors are well aware of the debacle and are afraid to report the real news because politicians are fighting a “so called” war on fossil fuels and reporting the truth makes them collatoral damage in the “so called” war. Simply put they lose their job for reporting the truth.
The politicians and news media are all in on the climate change agenda but at whose expense ? You the taxpayers. These politicians have invested your money in a gamble gone terribly wrong at your expense.
One Billion that’s a ( B ) Billion dollars divided by 100 megawatts of commercial wind power equals 10 million per megawatt and that doesn’t count the money the towns and private contractors spent building the turbines at another 5 million each !
When you look at a wind turbine in your town imagine the true cost of that turbine including the purchase price averages out to 15 million dollars each and you paid for it !
There are those wind turbine advocates that will say these costs are inflated but will never tell you the real costs or the truth because they are afraid taxpayers will follow the money.
Let us look at the costs.
1. Six figure pay checks for 15 years with golden parachutes to wind turbine companies for MassCEC employees.
2. Commercial megawatt wind turbine feasibility, noise, bird , siting studies etc full of what the agency describes as “mistakes.”
3. Legal fees incurred by the agency for almost every commercial wind turbine installed. Every time a turbine goes up two law firms get hired at taxpayer expense.
4. Paying for negotiations between wind turbine developers and residents over turbines breaking state noise guidlines. The Consensus Building Institute (CBI) for example. (Falmouth WTOP, Wind Turbine Option Analysis Process)
5. The Charlestown wind turbine blade testing facility and the incomplete New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal costs spiraling out of control like the Big Dig. Cape Wind never had a permit to build and construct wind turbines in New Bedford. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management gave Quonsett Point, Rhode Island that permit ten years ago.
6. Renegotiating renewable energy contracts with towns and contractors because of curtailment of wind turbines at night breaking state noise guidelines.
7. Failure to due due diligence and research on gear box driven turbines. The life expectancy was supposed to be 25 years in many cases the turbines don’t last 5 years. Templton has the highest electric rates in Massachusetts due to turbine failures.
8. Conducting health studies on commercial wind turbines after they were installed with no mechanism for public safety. The denial of infra-sound or low frequency sound even though in a 2004 Mattapoisett study done by the agency there were two distinct types of wind turbine noise. One being regulatory the state laws and the other “human annoyance.” The expense can be reviewed at the MassDEP Wind and Noise Technical Advisory Group (WNTAG).
9. The MassCEC and state politicians have taken various types of bonds out at taxpayer expense. The payments of these bonds is not reported to the taxpayers paying those bonds. One example is the $ $187,500.00 a month bond payments for thirty years on the New Bedford ocean wind port or South Terminal or what ever name they use to hide the embarrassment. In September of 2014 the terminal had its name changes three times in one day in an effort to confuse the public.
10. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 called the stimulus funds sent millions of dollars to Massachusetts. A majority of that money and state infrastructure money was redirected to commercial wind turbine projects. This was federal money. Your federal tax dollars.
It is time for the editors and owners of the news media to drop their personel investments in commercial wind turbines. Look what happened in Massachusetts in the last fifteen years. Commercial wind is a financial fiasco. The population is far too dense especially in the high wind zones.
Last for the sake of humanity stop the wind projects as they are taking the health and property rights of our neighbors.
Commercial wind is a poor investment for our health and our taxes.
