Massachusetts Breweries Hand Out Samples to State House Employees

Only State House employees got sample some tasty Massachusetts craft brews to support a bill to help small brewers distribute their products better in the Commonwealth.

Last night, State House employees sampled some of the finest Massachusetts craft brewers' beers in a delicious attempt to sway legislation by the Massachusetts Brewers Guild.

Unfortunately, the tasting is only available to some State House employees, but without polling Patch believes the people would possibly be swayed to support the legislation if sampling were made public. Β

A bill supported by the guild they say would make it easier to distribute their products, has sat pending for months in the Committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure. Β

So in a catered affair by the Guild, tonight from 6-8:30 p.m., more than 25 Massachusetts breweries are pouring their finest craft beer samples.

The bill faces the biannual bill-reporting deadline next Wednesday. According to the Guild, existing laws make it "nearly impossible" for brewers to move from wholesaler to wholesaler even if they're dissatisfied with the work the wholesaler is doing to distribute products.
