Meal Tax Forum Thursday

The League of Women Voters will host a forum on the meals tax referendum tomorrow, Thursday, Jan. 5 at Town Hall.

The will host a forum at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at, 11 Lincoln St., on the upcoming local meals tax ballot question. Christopher Fava and Michael Hanlon will represent opposing sides of the question. All are welcome to attend.

Plymouth voters, as a binding referendum, will have the opportunity to vote Jan. 14 on Town Meeting's approval of increasing the meals tax from 6.25 to 7 percent. A "yes" vote approves the action of Town Meeting to increase the meals tax and to authorize the filing of special legislation to limit use of that revenue for Plymouth's 400th anniversary celebration. A "no" vote will overturn the action of Town Meeting.
