Scott Brown (R), Elizabeth Warren (D): U.S. Senate
Scott Brown has represented Massachusetts in the U.S. Senate since a January 2010 special election heldΒ to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by the late Ted Kennedy. Brown defeated state Attorney General Martha Coakley with 1,168,107 votes, or 51.9 percent, to her 1,058,682 votes, or 47.1 percent.
William Keating (D), Christopher Sheldon (R), Daniel Botelho (I) 9th Congressional District
William Keating has been the Conressman representing the 10th Massachusetts District for the past two years. With redistricting, this year Keating is running in the newly created 9th District. He faces off against Christopher Sheldon, a Plymouth resident who was elected last year to the Plymouth County Charter Study Commission. Independent candidate Daniel Botelho of Fall River has not run for any prior elections.
In 2010, Keating defeated Republican Jeff Perry and independents Maryanne Lewis and Jim Sheets.
Therese Murray (D), Tom Keyes (R): Mass. Senate Plymouth-Barnstable District
Senate President Therese Murray of Plymouth has represented the Plymouth-Barnstable since 1993. Murray became Senate President in 2007. Murray faces Republican challenger Tom Keyes of Sandwich for the second race in a row. Keyes has served on the Sandwich Economic Development Committee, the Sandwich Board of Selectmen, and the Barnstable County Assembly of Delegates. In 2010, Murray defeated Keyes by 3,600 votes, or four percentage points.
Vinny deMacedo (R), Mass. House, (unopposed): First Plymouth District
Vinny deMacedo has represented the 1st Plymouth District since 1998, when he defeated Democratic incumbent Joseph Gallitano. DeMacedo is running unopposed.
The First Plymouth District is comprised of precincts 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 15 in Plymouth.
Thomas Calter (D), Debra Betz (R): Mass. House, 12th Plymouth District
Thomas Calter of Kingston has represented the 12th Plymouth District since 2007, when he replaced Tom O'Brien, who left to become Plymouth County Treasurer. Debra Betz of Plymouth has served on the Plymouth School Committee since 2007. She's also served on the Plymouth Cultural Arts Council and the Plymouth Recycling Committee. She also organized the Plymouth Freecycle online recycling group.
The 12th Plymouth District includes precincts 1, 11, and 13 in Plymouth.
Randy Hunt (R), R. Patrick Ellis (D): Fifth Barnstable District
Randy Hunt of Sandwich has represented the Fifth Barnstable District since 2011. Prior to being elected in 2010, he served on the Sandwich Finance Committee and Board of Selectmen. Ellis, also of Sandwich, has not previously run for election.Β
Precinct 9 in Plymouth was moved to the Fifth Barnstable District during redistricting last year.
